Big Slide Lake Backpacking

Oregon's Bull of the Woods Wilderness is located in the Cascade foothills, approximately 68 miles southeast of Portland, 40 miles southeast of Estacada, and 64 miles east of Salem. The terrain is made up of steep ridges with old growth timber, several small lakes, and numerous streams. Elevation varies from about 2,000 feet to 5,710 feet with several summits exceeding 5,000 feet. Most of the summits offer spectacular views of the surrounding area and, weather permitting, many snow capped peaks in the distance.
