Backpacking the Olympic National Park

As summer winds down, Mark and I attempt to enjoy every last minute warm breeze and late night twilight. Our latest adventure took us to Olympic National Park, about a five-hour drive from Portland to reach the Northern side of the park. While we have always heard that this mountain range is majestic, the long drive and inaccessibility compounded by the large annual rainfall in this region always dissuaded us from going. But, alas, we were granted a last-minute permit for the Grand Valley and backpacked in about 8-9 miles and 2000+ vertical feet to reach the one of the most magnificent 360 degree views Mark and I have ever seen. Here are a few pics from our trip.
